Disney has announced that its Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks will be closed for the remainder of March because of the coronavirus outbreak.
A spokesperson for Disneyland said there had been no confirmed Covid-19 cases at the park, but closing was “in the best interest of our guests and employees.”
The statement assured that Disney will continue to pay cast members through the closure. Disney also said it would work with guests seeking to change or cancel their visits.
Disneyland has rarely closed since it opened in 1955. The park closed for the national day of mourning following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks against the United States.
