Police in Northern California arrested 32-year-old Thomas Andrews over his threats of carrying out a workplace attack. Andrews, a United Parcel Service (UPS) employee, allegedly sent threatening text messages to his employer about carrying out a mass shooting at a Northern California UPS facility.

The Sunnyvale, Calif., Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a tip about Andrews’ threatening text messages and alleged plan to conduct a workplace shooting, and began an investigation over the weekend. Over the course of their investigation, DPS officers discovered that four handguns and a rifle were registered in Andrews’ name, and began a search for him. DPS patrol officers spotted him late Sunday night and a chase down Highway 101 ensued. California Highway Patrol joined the pursuit and the suspect was taken into custody, according to a press release.

A search warrant of his home revealed that Andrews had stockpiled more than 20,000 rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition, high capacity magazines, five tactical-style rifles, a shotgun, three handguns, and body armor. Several backpacks with ammunition were at the front door of the apartment, the release said. Sunnyvale DPS said it would continue with its investigation, and UPS vowed to cooperate fully with authorities.
